Choco Latte Opens Its Doors

The cafe opened late last week and will be open Mon.-Sat.

Choco Latte was open for the wine tasting event in Harbor Square on Thursday evening, but the doors really opened a day earlier.

Jose Mendoza has worked for the city for 12 years, in charge of maintenance for downtown. Now he is chasing his dream.

"It's always been my dream to open a coffee shop," he said Monday morning.

Mendoza is subletting space from Eco-Delight Coffee, sharing part of the old Eco-Delight Cafe for Choco Latte, while Eco-Delight Coffee co-owner Guillermo Moran runs the coffee roaster for his wholesale clients.

Mendoza said he will serve coffee, pastries, smoothies, ice cream, bagels, donuts from , bagels, sandwiches and tamales made at .

Moms can stop by during the Mother's Day Artisan Fair and get a special treat -- a piece of cake.
