Police Arrest Suspects In Copper Wire Theft

Suisun City police have arrested two men on suspicion of stealing
copper wire from the Irving H. Lambrecht Sports Complex on Tuesday.
          Police received a call around 3:30 a.m. about two men with a
backpack who left a white truck on Hickam Circle in Suisun and walked to a
nearby field.
          Police responded, placed the vehicle and the area under
surveillance and stopped the truck around 5 a.m. in the area of Walters Road
and Pintail Drive.
          Officers found copper wire in the truck bed and arrested James
Scott Ferguson, 49, of Fairfield and Christopher Lee Newcomer, 35, of Suisun,
police said in a news release.
          Officers determined the copper wire was taken from the sports
complex at 4499 Petersen Road in unincorporated Solano County outside Suisun
City limits.
          The complex includes softball and Little League baseball fields
and a full concession stand.
          Ferguson and Newcomer were booked into the Solano County jail for
grand theft, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools,
police said.
          Police said they have alerted the community about a recent rash of
copper wire theft in different areas of the city.
