Suisun City Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Vehicle Theft

Fairfield police said the quick action of a vehicle theft victim led to the arrest of a suspect Monday morning.

The owner of a red Ford Escort quickly informed Suisun City police
his vehicle was stolen around 9:10 a.m. from the Amtrak station, Fairfield police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said.

Suisun police then informed other Solano County law enforcement
agencies and a Fairfield police officer spotted the stolen car around 9:20 a.m. at Pennsylvania and Woolner avenues, Hurlbut said.

The officer followed the Ford to an apartment complex in the 200
block of Pennsylvania Avenue where the suspect stopped and fled into a residential neighborhood near Lawrence Drive, Hurlbut said.

Police cordoned off the area and searched for the suspect with
help from a California Highway Patrol plane, Hurlbut said.

During the yard-to-yard search, the suspect emerged from a trash
bin in the 200 block of Lawrence Drive and hopped a fence in the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Hurlbut said.

The CHP plane directed officers to the suspect who was quickly
caught, Hurlbut said.

Daniel Ontiveras, 28, of Suisun City, who was on parole for grand
theft, was booked in the Solano County jail for vehicle theft, resisting
arrest and a parole violation, Hurlbut said.

The arrest was possible because the car owner quickly reported the
theft to local police, Hurlbut said.
