Vacaville Murder Suspect's Girlfriend Arrested

Danaya Jordan, 20, was arrested as she went to visit her boyfriend in jail.

The girlfriend of a Vacaville murder suspect has been arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to the homicide, police said today.

Danaya Jordan, 20, the girlfriend of 21-year-old Rico Marquez Espitia, was arrested Oct. 8 when she tried to visit Espitia in Solano County Jail, Vacaville police Detective Vince Nadasdy said.

Espitia was arrested in Ocean Shores, Wash., on Aug. 30 for the shooting murder of Quintin Nears, 20, of Vacaville, on July 30.

Nears was shot in the upper body in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Alamo Drive. Police said at the time that the murder was gang-related.

Detectives developed information that Jordan had helped Espitia escape arrest and had tampered with evidence, Nadasdy said.

She was booked into Solano County Jail for being an accessory to a crime and participating in a criminal street gang.

Espitia's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 25.

Anyone with information about Jordan's alleged role in the slaying is asked to call Detective Chris Lechuga at 707-449-5269.
