Join a Free "Healthier Living" Class for a Better 2014 (schedule below)

Free Healthier Living classes offer hope and better health to persons with chronic diseases, and may prevent some chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and adult diabetes from developing.

 The free, six-week chronic disease self-management program is practical, interactive, social and highly beneficial to anyone with a chronic disease, and it’s helpful to family members and caregivers.  

 Participants report improved quality of life after completing the 6-week series.

 Every class is led by a pair of volunteer peer leaders who have been certified as trainers using Stanford’s acclaimed curriculum.

Healthier Living is offered throughout Solano County by Solano Health Promotion & Wellness Bureau in partnership with the Area Agency on Aging Serving Napa and Solano, sponsored by Solano Public Health and CA4Health, a project of the Public Health Institute with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Classes will be scheduled throughout the year.

HEALTHIER LIVING SCHEDULE

Benicia (Wednesdays)

Free Healthier Living classes to improve quality of life for anyone with a chronic health condition will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 8 through Feb. 12, or from  Feb. 19 through March 26, at Benicia Community Center, 370 East L St., Benicia. Classes run for six weeks. Families and caregivers are welcome. Call (707) 643-1797 for information and to register.

Vallejo (Tuesdays)

Free Healthier Living classes to improve quality of life for anyone with a chronic health condition, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 14 through Feb. 18 at Sereno Village Apartments, 750 Sereno Dr., Vallejo. Families and caregivers are welcome. Call Sereno Village at (707) 642-6999 for information and to register.

The next Vallejo class will be 9:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays, March 4 through April 8 at the Area Agency on Aging Serving Napa and Solano, 400 Contra Costa St. To register, call (707i) 643-1797.

 

 Dixon (Fridays)

Free Healthier Living classes to improve quality of life for anyone with a chronic health condition will be held from 9:15 to 11:45 a.m. Fridays, Jan. 24 through Feb. 28 at Dixon Senior/Multi-Use Center, 201 South Fifth St., Dixon. Families and caregivers are welcome. Call (707) 643-1797 information and to register.

Fairfield (Thursdays)

Free Healthier Living classes to improve quality of life for anyone with a chronic health condition will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 6 through March 13 at Community Action North Bay, 416 Union Ave, Fairfield. Families and caregivers are welcome. Call the CAC at (707) 427-1148 ext. 112 for information and to register.

The next Fairfield class is set for 2:30 to 5 p.m. Thursdays, March 4 through April 8 at Fairfield Senior Center, 1200 Civic Center Drive. To register, call (707) 643-1797.
