Kroc Center Looks To Break Record While Raising Money

The center's director will participate in money raising marathon with other center locations

The Salvation Army’s Kroc Center Suisuin City location is due to open to the public in spring 2012, but that doesn’t stop them from being active in the meantime.

This year, the center’s director will join 22 other Salvation Army locations across the U.S. in attempting to break a record at bell ringing.

“He’s actually going for a world record attempt,” said Captain Jonathan Harvey. “He’s going to be ringing the bell at a red kettle continuously, and he’s going to see if he can beat the world record.”

Kroc Center’s director, Jason Perkins, will be at the 24-hour Wal-Mart Supercenter this Thursday starting at 9 a.m. fully equipped with bell, kettle, and Kroc Center sweatshirt. Proceeds raised from the annual Red Kettle Drive will go toward helping feed families in need for Christmas.

“We’re hoping he’s going to beat (the record)and hopefully beat anyone else that tries an attempt at it,” Harvey said.

Every year, as soon as the holiday season is underway, you can see Salvation Army’s red kettles out as numerous employees and helpers ring bells and encourage donations to those who need a little help this time of year.

Within the last year or two, the drive became part of a friendly

Salvation Army in the area has attempted such a feat.

“It was sort of put out there and we thought well, what a great way to help support the kettle campaign and hopefully get some great donations coming in and also help bring attention to the club center,” Harvey said.

The Salvation Army will be collecting monetary donations for their Red Kettle Drive. Additional donations can be made by participating in their . Donations for the Angel Tree and additional gifts can be dropped off at the Solano Mall location on the first floor outside of JC Penneys.
