Letter To The Editor: Our City, Ours To Protect, Our Decision

Dear Editor,

Applause is due to Suisun City Council for passing a resolution Tuesday evening that supports local control for all Bay Area local governments to take action to protect their communities against rising sea levels.

The San Francisco Bay is expected to rise 55 inches over the next century and communities throughout the Bay Area, including Solano County are at severe risk of losing significant property to water inundation. Our community and our leaders need the authority to act, rather than being forced to rely on political appointees/a state agency that recommends we abandon our communities and move to higher ground.

There is too much at stake to surrender our local authority. We need to protect the recent investments we’ve made and the future development of the Suisun City.
