Solano Karaoke Idol to Be Held in Suisun City

The 3rd Annual Solano Karaoke Idol is coming to Suisun City, Friday, May 6 at the The event will be put on in partnership of Solano Family and Children's Services and the Children’s Nurturing Project.

“We’re hoping to have a full house,” said Ann Taylor, development coordinator of CNP.  “We’re really excited.”

Taylor said a full house would mean about 300 guests attending the event. Proceeds go directly to the two organizations. Solano Karaoke Idol is just one of the many events held by CNP to raise money throughout the year, and one of two big events. The other major event it sponsors is the Solano Turkey Trot in which CNP partners with three other organizations, including Mission Solano.

By Request Entertainment will DJ the contest. The company has already made a name for itself around the Bay Area playing at other Karaoke Idol fundraisers, Taylor said. The night will also include a performance by . Anyone hoping to compete will have the opportunity to perform solo or as a group.

“As far as I know the individual slots are all taken but the group spots are still open, but I don’t think we are going to turn anyone away,” said Taylor.

Local businesses have helped with fundraising efforts and donated items that will be available for auction. Taylor said prize amounts are will be modest because the event is a fundraiser. A press release states first place prize is $100 and second place will be $50.

CNP Executive Director Debbi Davis also stated in the press release the most important thing to remember is that the event will benefit Solano County families and children.

“Our goal is to host more Solano Karaoke Idol events with our sponsor, By Request Entertainment, throughout the year so we can increase attendance and create bigger cash prizes,” said Davis.

Solano Karaoke Idol will begin at 6:00 p.m., though doors will open at 5:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in Suisun City for $35 at or . Tickets purchased at the door will be $40.
