All are invited to “Get the Rush” this Saturday! “Get the Rush” is a series of fun and free activities at Rush Ranch, just outside Suisun City. Starting at 9 a.m., enjoy an easy guided walk along the marsh trails.  Learn about the marsh and local human history. Meet your guide at the map outside the Nature Center.  Between 10am to 1pm, travel back in time at the historic Rush Ranch Blacksmith Shop. Join in an interactive demonstration with a smithy.

Learn about traditional blacksmithing tools and equipment, and see the forge in the center of the ranch. Make your own iron nail or other keepsake. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., visit Little Bear at his table full of Native American tools and decorations that he hand-crafted himself. Ask him about his life experiences and the history and culture of Native Americans. From 11 a.m. to 1p.m., all are welcome to ride around the ranch on a wagon drawn by strong but gentle horses. The wagon is specially designed for persons with limited mobility, including a solar powered wheelchair lift. These wagon rides allow those with limited mobility to experience the freedom and excitement of exploring beautiful open spaces like Rush Ranch, with highly trained horses and experienced drivers.

If you go: admission and parking is free.  Water, snacks, and bug repellent are recommended. The fun happens between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Rush Ranch, 3521 Grizzly Island Road in Suisun City.

Friday-Sunday:

The Nocturnes is an organization dedicated to the art of night photography. This exhibit of fine art photography is part of the year-long celebration of their 20th anniversary. Mare Island Nocturnes features long exposure night images by photographers from all over the Bay Area. Check out this fabulous show.  A portion of proceeds from print sales benefits the Mare Island Historic Park Foundation and its preservation, education, and outreach programs.

If you go: This free exhibit  is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd full weekends of the month. Mare Island Historic Park Foundation Artifacts Museum is at 1100 Railroad Avenue in Vallejo (at 8th Street on Mare Island). The exhibit continues until September 15th.

Saturday:

Come see the movie outdoors at while summer’s still here. Bring a blanket or low-slung chair for lawn seating, your favorite snacks, and enjoy the weekly show.

Toy Story 3 (Rated G) Pixar returns to their first success with Toy Story 3. The movie begins with Andy leaving for college and donating his beloved toys -- including Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen) -- to a daycare. While the crew meets new friends, including Ken (Michael Keaton), they soon grow to hate their new surroundings and plan an escape.

If you go: The movie starts at Dusk (about 8:30 p.m.) on Harbor Plaza at Main Street and Solano Street in Suisun City.

Sunday:

Enjoy live jazz music on the shores of Suisun Marina.  Today’s jazz includes Richard Harris & Friends. Bassist Richard Harris was influenced at an early age by the 'straight' jazz piano styling of Oscar Peterson, Les McCann and Ramsey Lewis; and caught by the sweet tones of Bassist Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, Stanley Clarke and Percy Heath. Bring your family, friends or church group to the Waterfront District for an afternoon of great music and picnicking.

If you go: The concert is from 3-5 p.m. on Harbor Plaza at Main Street and Solano Street in Suisun City.
