Suisun City Weekend Planner July 15-17

Friday:

The Time Bandits are a pop/rock/R&B time machine capturing nearly every popular genre from the 1960s to today. The band has been together now going on thirteen years and getting better every day.  This year the group has added KeLee Bordeaux mixing it up with Alan 'Roc' Boulding on lead vocals and Jeremiah Voit on trombone!

If you go: The free music runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on at Main Street and Solano Street in Suisun City.

Saturday:

Join friends and family and head on over to for a Fundraiser. The day starts with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce at 11 a.m., then the salon opens afterwards for haircuts, manicures and pedicures with all proceeds benefiting the center.  Additionally, there will be a raffle and chance to win an incredible gift basket. Come on by and introduce yourself, get a mani-pedi and feel good knowing you’re supporting a great cause.

If you go: The ribbon cutting is at 11 a.m. with the salon opening from 11:30-6 p.m. at Shear Madness Salon and Beauty Supply, 411 Main Street in Suisun City.

 

Saturday:

All are invited to “Get the Rush” this Saturday at , just outside Suisun City.  Starting at 9 a.m., enjoy an easy and informative guided walk along the marsh trails.  Learn about the marsh and local human history. Meet your guide at the map outside the Nature Center. Between 10am to 1pm, travel back in time as you enter the historic Rush Ranch Blacksmith Shop and learn about traditional blacksmithing tools and equipment. Also from 11am to 1pm, visit Little Bear at his table full of Native American tools and decorations that he hand-crafted himself There’s also horse-drawn wagon rides (all are welcome, but the wagons are especially designed for wheelchairs and others with limited mobility).  
 
If you go: This free tour is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rush Ranch, 3521 Grizzly Island Road in Suisun City.  Rush Ranch admission and parking is free.  Water, snacks, and bug repellent are recommended. Guests should be prepared for variable weather by bringing layered clothes and protection from sun, wind, fog, and the chance of rain.  Reservations are not necessary.  For more information visit www.SolanoLandTrust.org, call 707-432-0150 x200.

 

Saturday:

Come watch the movie outdoors on the beautiful Harbor Plaza. Bring a blanket or low-slung chair for lawn seating, your favorite snacks, and enjoy the weekly show! This week it’s Kung Fu Panda (PG): A clumsy panda bear becomes an unlikely kung fu hero when a treacherous enemy spreads chaos throughout the countryside in this animated martial arts adventure featuring the voices of Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, and Jackie Chan.

If you go: The free movie starts at dusk (about 8:30 p.m.) on at Main Street and Solano Street.

 

Sunday:

Enjoy live jazz music on the shores of Suisun Marina this afternoon. Bring your family, friends or church group to the Waterfront District for an afternoon of great music and picnicking! Based in Vacaville under the guidance of Keith Stout, the Alive Music Orchestra is a regular favorite at the Independence Day Spectacular and the Waterfront Jazz Series. Alive Music Orchestra is dedicated to the expression of American Jazz, Gospel, Pop, and Folk Music.  Their mission and outreach jazz ministry has provided music for various churches and seniors, dances, charities and regional jazz festivals.

If you go: The free concert is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Harbor Plaza at Main Street and Solano Street in Suisun City.
