VIDEO: Hanging Day At The Juried Art Show

Artist Janet Barnes explains how to hang an art show

Tuesday was hanging day for the 48th Annual Fairfield Visual Arts Association’s Juried Art Show, when roughly 100 pieces of selected art from artists in the local area and around the Bay are hung at the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts.

Watch the accompanying video as Fairfield artist and muralist Janet Barnes explains that hanging an art show is more than just finding a space where the canvases fit.

The show runs from March 25 to May 22, open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays noon to 3 p.m. A reception party at the gallery where the association will hand out juried show awards takes place March 31 at 6:30p.m. On the last day of the show, the jurors will hold a talk in the gallery lobby about their artistic philosophies, plus how and why they choose the selected works. The talk runs from 1-3 p.m. May 22.
