Weekend Planner July 1-4

Are you looking for something nearby to do this Fourth of July weekend? Check out some of the things on the Suisun City Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

The three-day 2nd annual Blues Festival opens on Friday night at the Creekwalk with blues musician, Brad Wilson. The next two days, the music moves over to Town Square with more live music playing from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Bands include the Used Blues Band, Jeff Watson, Sargant Tucker, The Loose Blues Band, the Charlie Wade Blues Band, Raymond Victor, Dante & The Blues Inferno, Uncorked Blues Band, and the Delta Rockets. Saturday's headline band is the Matty T Band at 7 pm while Shane Dwight closes the festival on Sunday. C'mon over and check out this incredible lineup!

If you go: This free event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Andrews Park at Creekwalk off Monte Vista Ave. in Vacaville.

Enjoy a pancake breakfast served by the Boy Scout Troop 482 before the Fairfield 4th of July parade. Sponsored and hosted by Fairfield Moose Family Center, the breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.  All proceeds benefit Boy Scout Troop 482. Tickets may be bought on the 4th or in advance by clicking here.

If you go: The breakfast is $6 and runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Fairfield Moose Lodge, 623 Taylor Street in Fairfield.

 

Monday:

The 2011 theme for Fairfield‘s annual Independence Day Parade is “From Every Mountainside, Let Freedom Ring, ” with Fairfield Police Sergeant Mike Mitchell appointed as grand marshal of this year's parade. The parade route begins at the intersection of Webster and Kentucky Streets. It marches west on Kentucky Street to Taylor Street where it turns south. At Texas Street, the parade moves east to Washington Street, where it disbands at Kentucky Street. The reviewing stand will be placed along Texas Street at Madison Street, near Fairfield Center for Creative Arts.

If you go: The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Webster and Kentucky Streets in Fairfield. Bring your low chair or blanket, get there early, and enjoy.  Happy Independence Day.



Monday:

Celebrate America's birthday at Solano County's best Fourth of July celebration with all-day music, craft and food vendors, and a huge fireworks display over the Waterfront. This event offers a fun, safe, family celebration of America’s independence. Live entertainment includes California Cowboys and Mixed Nuts, Missouri Street Theatre Group and Danc-Sing Stars, Alive Music Orchestra and more. There will also be dozens of unique arts and crafts vendors, giant slide, rock climbing, great food, and kid's carnival.

If you go: Please plan to arrive early, walk from available parking and enjoy a great day from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The spectacular fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. at the Suisun City Waterfront District, Man & Solano Streets in Suisun City.
