Black Friday A Boon To Westfield Solano Mall Stores

Westfield Solano had a great turnout for Black Friday

Many stores that looked to take advantage of Black Friday mania are reporting that they had done remarkably well, and Westfield Solano is no different.

“We did very very well,” said Megan Stagnaro, marketing director. “Business was very strong.”

Department stores such as Macy’s that opened at 12:00 a.m. Friday morning had crowds lined up with shoppers waiting to enter at all four of their entrances. Old Navy reported 450 in shopper traffic this year after its midnight opening, as opposed to 300 last year, Stagnaro said.

The shopping center, too, had a record number of stores within it that decided to open at midnight, 15 in all. Only a handful of stores participated in the midnight sales last year, Megan said.

The remaining stores within the mall opened at 4 a.m. Altogether, businesses were extremely pleased with this year's turn out, Stagnaro said.

“Traffic numbers were very stong also,” Stagnaro said. “So all in all it was a very successful weekend for the retailers here.”

Those who did not participate in Black Friday sales can still find deals leading up to their day of giving on Westfield Solano’s website.

Other events visitors may be interested in include pictures with Santa for their little ones. Westfield is also offering a “LOLiday” special in which shoppers can take pictures to be placed in Holiday themed Cards.

Others in the giving spirit may be pleased to know there is a Salvation Army collection location just outside of JC Penney’s on the first floor where “City Hall at the Mall” used to be. Donors can give food, clothing and clothes at this location. Marines from Travis Air Force Base will be hosting a “Toys for Tots” location on the second floor in front of Forever 21, as well.

“It makes it extremely convenient for people who pick up a tag here from a tree, decide to purchase something and then drop it off,” Stagnaro said.

Gift wrapping fundraisers will be held by Vanden High School of Vacaville to support their Safe and Sober Grad Night, the American Cancer Society, and Solano Community College Rotaracts. Shoppers interested in these services can visit their stations on the first floor, outside of Sports Authority.
