Couple Brings Nature Photos To Christmas Market

Owners of Suisun Nature Photography will have booth set up at waterfront this weekend

As the owner of Suisun Nature Photography, Tom and Steffni Muehleisen have captured some of the most beautiful sights Suisun City has to offer. Now you can see some of their best work at the .

“That’s what we try to do with our photography,” Tom said. “We try to make people aware of what they have in their backyard.”

Tom has lived with his wife in Suisun City for over 20 years. A retiree from law enforcement, he decided to take up a new hobby with his wife after he left the force. So, five years ago the two began shooting photographs of wildlife and nature.

“We just loved photography,” Steffni said. “It just sort of evolved.”

Steffni began attending events at the Suisun Waterfront to sell jewelry and stuffed bears that she would dress up in different fun outfits. You can almost always count on seeing the two at an event together these days, as well, selling their photography. Steffni said she enjoys being able to be appreciated for something she did. The Muehleisens hope to be able continue doing their photography for as long as they can.

“Our mission is to get the word out about local nature and we do that by exposing our photography,” Tom said.

The two are also active in volunteering to help put waterfront events together. This will be the third year Tom plans to help put up the distinctive Old European wooden stalls he helped create for the Old World Christmas Market. The stalls were built behind the building of , owned by Linda Feins. Tom said he worked with Feins’ husband and a host of other volunteers to create the wooden stalls.

“It just gives kind of an atmosphere to the marina down here with the booths, and they light them up and put decorations on them and it makes it seem like Christmas,” he said.

The couple’s website, SuisunNaturePhotograpy.com, includes photographs they caught in Suisun’s backyard. Shots from and the Suisun Marsh are just a few of the great locations for capturing nature at its finest. The two currently have an online gallery of images for sale, as well as a book on Rush Ranch.

“We did this book to bring awareness to all of the things they do there,” Tom said.

The Muehleisens will have a booth set up during regular Christmas market hours.
