Old World Christmas Market Offering Photo Shoots

Former Suisun City business owner is taking photographs at waterfront this weekend

The kicks off this weekend at the Suisun Waterfront, offering families a chance to come down to do some shopping and listen to live music. Families have yet another reason to visit the waterfront, they can take holiday photos together.

“I’m kind of excited about this,” said photographer Gerri McKeon. “I think this should be a lot of fun.”

McKeon, a former Suisun City resident and business owner, at one time had a coffee shop and ice cream shop at the Suisun Waterfront. She ran the businesses simultaneously under the names The Grind and Sundaes in Suisun until 2005. Both businesses were located on Main Street.

“I’ve retired but I have a nice camera and I live in a senior complex and I have all this Christmas stuff back from when I had the coffee shop,” she said.

McKeon now lives in Fairfield and decided she would start the photo shoots there as a way to give the residents something fun to do and great Christmas photos to keep. She said she was thrilled to have a chance to return to the waterfront once more for the Christmas market and be able to do her photography.

“It’s always been something I’ve really liked, enjoyed, and have done more or a less as a hobby,” McKeon said.

McKeon said she is not just offering a photograph, but a complete photo shoot. She hopes to be able to get the word out about her photography so as to be able to do more of it in the future, which would be nicer than just keeping all her props in storage, she said.

Those who participate in a photo shoot can choose from three different settings: a Christmas scene, a white background, and choice of two dozen roses in a ruby red vase. Photos are placed on a CD for families to keep and duplicate at a time convenient for them, as often as they would like. CD pricing for up to two people is $20, three and four people for $25, and $2 for each additional person after that.

“Hopefully it will give people an opportunity to get a nice picture taken and if they want to want to do a Christmas card, and print what they want when they want it,” Mckeon said.

McKeon is shooting Friday and Saturday during regular Christmas market hours.
