R&B Artist Jon B To Headline At Dimitri's

Artist made popular in the 90s for collaborations with contemporary artists to perform both hits and new music

is on the brink of its second year in business and bringing great music and entertainment to the Suisun Waterfront. This month, the night venue will bring Jon B to their stage for two performances by the R&B artist and his live band.

“We’re trying to do a headliner at least once every couple months,” said Terri Mance, owner.

Jon B is most known for his work in the 90s, including his debut single and collaboration with R&B mogul, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, “Someone to Love.” Other hits include “Pretty Girl,” “They Don’t Know,” and “Are You Still Down,” with which he collaborated with the late rapper, Tupac Shakur. He is currently working on the release of his 7th album, “Comfortable Swag,” set to be released February 2012.

Jon B is one of many artists Dimitri’s Lounge has brought to Suisun City for live music entertainment. Over the last two years, such acts as Lenny Williams, Howard Hewitt, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Pete Escovedo, and SAPO featuring Richard Bean, have taken the stage. Mance said she and husband Demetrius looks to always keep an ear out for who her patrons would like to see.

“Before we bring in a headliner, Demetrius will announce it, usually every Saturday, to get the feedback on what the customers think of that person coming in, or we’ll throw out some names and usually by the audience reaction, we know who’s going to do well and who is not,” Mance said.

Jon B. will be performing an 8 p.m. and an 11 p.m. show, Saturday, December 10. Tickets prices range from $35 to $45, and can be purchased online at their website.

Another big attraction to the lounge is their New Year’s Eve Celebration. The engagement will also be Dimitri’s second year anniversary. As would-be partiers look for a sophisticated setting to usher in the new year, they can find that and more at Dimitri’s.

“We have hor d'oeuvres, we’re having a big balloon drop, a champagne toast, and a live band,” Mance said.

Tickets for the New Year’s Eve Celebration are $59, and can be purchased on their website.
