It's beginning to look like summer a lot more with the hot weather finally showing up here in June. I like to protect my kids from the rays of the sun when we are out, but I wonder, is there a difference between kid and adult sun block?

My answer: According to babycenter.com, there is not a lot of difference between baby, kid, or regular sun block, though it is not recommended for infants six months or younger because they typically have thinner skin.  Still, there are some things to keep in mind.

Products for youngsters may often have a little less fragrance and other ingredients that may serve as irritants, but you will want to be careful of all products. Testing it on a small amount of your child’s skin is suggested before using it liberally. Also, products with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are known to be more natural and contain less chemicals. Whatever you decide upon, make sure it contains at least 15 SPF for adequate UV ray protection.

Lastly, any products with more than 30 SPF are usually not needed because most have been proven to not give much more protection. Still, if you find that sunburn still occurs after applying SPF 30, you might want to try a stronger sun block. I burn with anything under 45 SPF.
