RAW VIDEO: Pepperbelly's Comedy Club in Fairfield Goes Up in Flames

Firefighters decided they couldn't fight the fire from inside and had to battle it from outside.

By Bay City News

Firefighters extinguished a fire hours after it was reported at a comedy club in Fairfield tonight.

"It's a smoky situation," Fairfield spokeswoman Gale Spears said. The amount of smoke caused the fire to be escalated to five alarms, she said.

The fire was reported at about 6:45 p.m. by someone who was inside The Original Pepperbelly's Comedy & Variety Theater, which is located at 849 Texas St.

The building is a two-story structure that was built in the 1960s, Webster said.

The blaze may have started inside the building, he said. Firefighters decided they couldn't fight the fire from inside and are battling it from outside, according to Webster.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is not known.
