Students shared what they learned on Saturday from their three-month long No Uke-Sperience Necessary workshops held at
Family, friends and others gathered in the middle of the library to hear what the students have been practicing. The class was offered to youth ages 17 and under for free. As the name suggests, many of the youth did not have prior ukelele experience, but they performed with confidence, strumming and picking their instruments to songs such as Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and Bruno Mars' "Just The Way You Are."
Throughout the recital, Izi Holokahi, head instructor, kept the crowd entertained by sharing the history of the instrument and giving out raffle prizes to audience members. Once performances concluded, Holokahi informed the students they were able to keep the ukeleles they had been practicing with.
