Women Healing Women Conference Comes To Suisun City This Saturday

Conference meant to concentrate on the holistic health of women will be at the Joseph Nelson Center

A conference focusing on the holistic health and well-being of women will be held this weekend.

Emani Inc., one of the longest running women’s service agencies in Northern California, will be hosting their Women Healing Women Conference to the this Saturday, Oct. 22.

According to the website, the conference will begin with an opening ceremony bearing the theme “Sisters Heal Thyself.” It will be introduced with award-winning poet, activist, and award-winning journalist Ifalade Ta’Shia Asanti and keynote speaker Dr. Kathryn Wetzler.

Reverend Doretha Williams-Flournoy, Deputy Director of the California Institute for Mental Health, is slated to recieve a lifetime achievement award for her work with women and making mental and health care services more readily available to them.

Bishop Yvette Flunder, founder of City of Refuge and Radically Inclusive Ministries, will give a speech. The theme of her presentation will be “Taking Back Our Power.”

Various workshops addressing women's health are scheduled to be held throughout the day.

The conference will be held this Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Childcare will be available for up to 30 children ages 2-7 years old. Those interested in childcare must RSVP for the event before Saturday. A WHWC Community Healing Village and Marketplace will also be available, where women can purchase products and visit booths related to holistic healing.
