Becoming San Francisco's Dump

If you didn't read Barry Eberling's article in the Daily Republic, "San Francisco sees Solano landfill as trash option," then please do yourself a favor and search for it online.

Regardless of whether the Hay Road Landfill takes 'green waste' from San Francisco now or not, being San Francisco's primary dump for the next 10+ years is a serious concern!

The article points out how in 2012 the county supervisors (much to many of us taxpayers who supported Measure E's principles - ie limited out-of-county trash) allowed Hay Road to accept the maximum daily tonnage of waste, thus opening the door for it to become a mega dump like Potrero.

We need to protect our open space and agriculture lands! We don't need additional diesel trucks polluting our county air and clogging our roads! How are we ever going to maintain our county's beauty if we allow ourselves to become the Bay Area dumping ground.

A group called Keep Solano Green - http://keepsolanogreen.com/ has started a petition asking our electeds to stop this from happening! I agree with their stance and ask you to sign the petition as well.
