Do You Know Who Put Up These Flags?

It's a local mystery: Who put up the American flags that line the south side of Highway 12 From Marina Boulevard to Grizzly Island Road?

They showed up before Memorial Day and now there's a new holiday they're fit for coming up: July 4.

The little American flags lining the south side of Highway 12 between Marina Boulevard and Grizzly Island Road have provided a little patriotic color on the wooden fence since Memorial Day.

But the question remains: Who put them there?

It's a local mystery city hall has no idea how to solve, according to city spokesman Scott Corey. Patch is wondering, too, but we have a hunch there's someone out there in Patchland who knows the answer.

In the meantime, do you like the flags and should they stay put? Tell us in the comments.

I think they're great! I just assumed the city put them up. It pretty cool to have a little mystery for my friends, as they come into town, from the bay area for the 4th.

Alan, I am so glad your friends are coming for the 4th to our beautiful Suisun City. I just wanted to make people aware of a unique opportunity to have some premo parking and give back to our homeless Veterans at the same time. The Wiseman Company has a building at the Waterfront and they are graciously allowing Mission Solano to valet park cars and charge only $10 to the patrons. Easy access to the Waterfront with no worries. The Wiseman Company did not have to do this- so how awesome is that? Happy Birthday USA!!! Blessings to all.

I assumed it was the City, too. As I recall, I've seen them in the past. Thank you to the mystery person who pretties up the fence line! :)

The torn/fallen flags seem to be getting some attention. I believe they went up on the early morning of Memorial Day. Very fitting for Memorial Day (May 28), Flag Day (June 14), Honor America Days (June 14 - July 4) and Independence Day (July 4). Whomever it is, keep up the great work...

I feel it's great that the flags are up. I was excited to see this. I have a feeling it's the Boy Scouts of America OR the The Kiawanis. Thanks! Whoever is responsible and God bless.

Glad to see we have a Suisun City Council member contributing to this great local website. I've been telling everyone who's coming to my house on the 4th to buy some fireworks as an entrance fee.

I agree, plus, as an artist, I like how it adds color to the stretch of highway.

There are approximately 402 posts along the south side of Hwy 12 between Marina Blvd and Grizzley Island Road. Divided by 3 (every third post) and increasing the number at each intersection puts approximately 145 flags out there. David, you're absolutely correct about the color. Those flags are the most beautiful of colors. I hope those flags will continue to wave in the Suisun 'breeze' through the celebration of our 4th of July. Independence Day, our freedom as a Country and that FREEDOM WAS NOT FREE. Everyone, please have a safe, enjoyable and relaxing day off. Be safe when using the Safe and Sane fireworks.
