November: 30 Days to Say You're Thankful

Many are using social media to post things they are thankful for everyday in November.

November is often thought of as the month between Halloween and Christmas, the month between fall and winter, the beginning of the holiday season.

Days get shorter with the late-to-rise and early-to-set sun. Starbucks announces November's arrival with the introduction of their seasonal red cups and holiday decor takes over Walmart's gardening section.

Here's another cool opportunity this November:

I've noticed all over social media today that many people are using November as a month to express "30 Days of Thanks," rather than saving up their thankfulness until Thanksgiving Day.

On a day that could have gone a bit better for me, I was personally moved by this gesture when I saw people giving thanks online.

Maybe I've been oblivious to this tradition every year, or maybe it's something new; one way or another I thought it was a great start to this November 1, 2012, and wanted to pass the sentiment on to Patch readers.

Many Facebookers are posting something they are thankful for each day of November. Some of the ones I read today started by giving thanks to their moms, faith, good-night kisses, breakfast in bed, calculators, home and family.

I'm excited to read the daily inspiration and hope that by beginning 30 of my mornings with thoughts of thankfulness, it will become an uplifting routine to start out my day.

With that, I'll share my own: Today I am thankful for communication in all forms. It was communication that brought the idea to me, and allowed me to pass it on to you. Communication has allowed me to chat with a loved one thousands of miles away today, email photos and text important people in my life. So today and in the future, I plan to better communicate my many appreciations.

Feel free to share what you are thankful for below, or click here to start your own 30-days of Thankfulness blog on the Patch.

I'll start November by thanking the person who returned my wallet today after I left it on a gas pump in Davis and drove off to Dixon. I even wrote her a thank you note! http://patch.com/A-zlgL
