Assault Rifle Seized in Vallejo after Foot Chase

Cole Martin fled on foot and was apprehended by SET deputies after a short foot chase.

Patch has learned that Solano County deputies found an SKS assault rifle while conducting a warrant in Vallejo on Monday. The search took place on the 700 block of Virginia Street.

Here's more from the Solano County Sheriff's Office:

The arrest warrant was for Cole Martin, a 28 year old Vallejo resident. Martin was wanted for being in violation of his conditions of post-release supervision. Cole fled on foot and was apprehended by SET deputies after a short foot chase. During a search after the arrest, SET deputies recovered a SKS assault rifle and ammunition. Martin was booked into the Solano County Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, resisting arrest and the arrest warrant.

PRCS subjects are supervised by the Solano County Probation Department as a result of AB109, better known in criminal justice circles as Realignment. The law, which transfers the responsibility of monitoring, rehabilitating and incarcerating certain non-violent, non-serious offenders from the State to the Counties, has affected every facet of law enforcement throughout the state. When a state prisoner is granted parole for a crime that is a non-violent, non-sexual and non-serious offense (non-non-non), they are placed on community supervision in the county in which they were convicted.
