A 34-year-old man who was killed Friday while working along Interstate Highway 680 in Milpitas has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Frankie Armando Jimenez.

Jimenez, a resident of Dixon in Solano County, died and a fellow construction worker was injured when the driver of a 2000 Nissan veered off of the roadway and crashed into them, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 2:40 a.m. Friday as the two workers were removing a construction sign next to a flatbed Ford truck parked off of the northbound side of the freeway south of Scott Creek Road, according to the CHP.

The Nissan's driver, Adrian Valencia Sanchez, 20, of Gilroy, hit both the workers and the truck, according to the CHP.

Jimenez died at the scene and other worker, a 26-year-old Vacaville resident, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Regional Medical Center of San Jose, according to the CHP.

Sanchez suffered major injuries and had to be extricated from the Nissan, according to the CHP. He was later arrested at the hospital on suspicion of felony DUI.
