Driver Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run on Peabody Road

A Fairfield resident was killed while walking on Peabody Road early Wednesday morning.

A 28-year-old Fairfield resident was killed in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday morning in that city, and the driver authorities say is responsible was arrested hours later.

According to the CHP, Moses L. Sala was found lifeless on Peabody Road near Chuck Hammond Drive just before 9 a.m.

"Evidence discovered at the scene, suggested a 2012 Chevy pick-up truck had struck the pedestrian several hours earlier and was no longer located at the scene," the CHP said in a press release. "The immediate investigation that followed, led CHP officers to a Vacaville address where the suspect’s vehicle was located and seized."

The alleged driver, 23-year-old Alex Perez, Jr., was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run. He was arrested in Vacaville, but lives in Fairfield, according to the CHP.

The CHP investigation is finished and the Solano County District Attorney Don du Bain is pursuing 3 felonies against Mr. Perez. Here's a quote from Fairfield's Daily Republic newspaper: Perez faces three felony allegations and one enhancement, du Bain said. They includes felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony DUI causing injury and felony leaving the scene of an accident. The second allegation carries an enhancement of causing gross bodily injury to the victim, du Bain said. You can and should read the entire story at: http://www.dailyrepublic.com/news/crimecourts/solano-da-pursues-charges-in-fatal-december-hit-and-run/ Looks like I was wrong in my previous post about making the FF, VV and CHP cops look bad, and I hope I'm wrong about the guy walking.

Perez is in jail for now with a $120,000 bail, which means he or his friends/family need to pay $12,000 to get him out. It looked like he was trying to run after the charges were filed,
