Bay City News -- A Suisun City man was one of two men arrested for alleged illegal handgun possession by Fairfield police in separate incidents this week.
Nevelle Wallace, 22, was arrested for allegedly being a felon in possession of handgun, having a loaded handgun in public, possession of a controlled substance for sale and probation violation.
Wallace is on probation out of Solano County, police said.
About 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers patrolling the 1900 of Grande Circle noticed a man lurking about, officials said.
They tried to speak with him but he ran away, police said.
Following a brief foot chase, the man threw a pistol into a nearby yard and surrendered, police said.
Officers found what they thought to be cocaine base on the man.
About 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, police walking through a housing complex in the 800 block of East Travis Boulevard, near Dover Park, noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle nearby, officials said.
The officers contacted the occupants and searched the vehicle, finding a loaded pistol in the center console, police said.
Denero Harris, 19, of Roseville, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a loaded and concealed handgun and providing a false identity to officers.
Harris is on probation in Sacramento County, police said.
The police says its Special Operations Team and Gang Unit regularly walk through neighborhoods to deter crime.
