A grass fire near Interstate Highway 80 in Fairfield is causing traffic to back up through the area this afternoon, a California Highway Patrol Officer said.
The fire was first reported near Travis Boulevard on right shoulder of the westbound lanes at about 2:30 p.m., Officer James Evans said.
Heavy smoke is drifting into the lanes and affecting traffic in
both directions.
As of 2:45 p.m., eastbound traffic was backed up to West Texas Street, and westbound traffic was backed up more than a mile passed Air Base Parkway.
