Fairfield High School Coach To Be Arraigned On Sex Charges

Swim team coach arrested on suspicion of having sex with 15-year-old student.

By Bay City News Service

A swim coach at Fairfield High School has been charged with having
sex with a 15-year-old girl on the team and will be arraigned next week in
Solano County Superior Court.
Jonathan Mathis, 20, was arrested April 21 on suspicion of
engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, Fairfield police
spokesman Officer Cleo Mayoral said.
Students at the high school told a teacher they were suspicious of
Mathis' relationship with the girl, Mayoral said.
The teacher contacted the Police Department's school resource
officer on campus, who then told police investigators, Mayoral said.
Mathis was arrested after he was interviewed that day at the
school, and police searched his home and took his computer, Mayoral said.
Mathis was booked into Solano County Jail and posted $15,000 bail.
He will appear in court on May 12.
The alleged relationship with the girl, now 16, began when she was
15, Mayoral said. She has cooperated with the police investigation, he said.
Police are investigating whether there are other alleged victims,
Mayoral said.
