Fairfield Man Arrested on Vehicular Manslaughter & DUI Charges After Passenger Dies in Accident

The passenger, Christopher Lee Daniels, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

 

A 33-year-old Fairfield man has been arrested and booked on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI, after the passenger of his vehicle died in a crash in Sacramento this weekend. 

Sir Von Church was the driver of the car, which wrecked around 3:35 a.m. on the morning of April 28 on Northgate Boulevard in Sacramento.

Here are more details from the California Highway Patrol: 

Church’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and it began to drift to the right, leaving the roadway and striking a tree.  The impact caused the vehicle to split in half.   Church’s passenger, Christopher Lee Daniels, a 29 year old from Sacramento was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at the scene. Church was transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Hospital for minor injuries.

After Church was released from the hospital, he was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for 192 (C) PC- gross vehicular manslaughter, 23153 (a) VC- felony DUI, and 14601.1- driving on a suspended driver’s license.  This collision is still under investigation.
