Fairfield Man Is Suspect In Napa Burglary

Dennis Adam Johns, 30, of Fairfield was arrested on suspicion of burglary, auto theft and possession of stolen property.

Authorities in Napa County arrested two men this morning and are searching for a third in connection with a residential burglary that was interrupted by an alert neighbor, a sheriff's spokeswoman said.

The neighbor had been keeping an eye on the home in the 5100 block of Silverado Trail while the homeowners were out of state, Napa County sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart said today.

At about 6 p.m. Tuesday, the neighbor reported that the home had been burglarized sometime in the previous 24 hours and that the burglars had stolen numerous items, including the residents' 2007 Toyota Solara.

A gold Buick that had been reported stolen out of Vallejo was recovered across the street from the burglarized home, and Stuart said authorities believe the burglars drove it to the residence.

This morning, at about 7:10 a.m., the same neighbor noticed that the home's garage door was open. Stuart said the neighbor drove to the garage, found the residents' second vehicle running, and blocked the car's path, preventing the three suspects inside the vehicle from driving away.

The suspects started ramming the neighbor's car, and a second neighbor called 911 before the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, Stuart said.

Sheriff's deputies, Napa police and California Highway Patrol officers established a perimeter and were scouring the neighborhood when a resident of an area just south of Yountville about 15 miles away reported seeing two of the men.

A sheriff's deputy and Napa police officer responded and spotted the men in a drainage ditch near Hoffman Lane on the east side of state Highway 29.

Robert Walter Williams, 22, of Vallejo, and Dennis Adam Johns, 30, of Fairfield, were detained and later arrested on suspicion of burglary, auto theft and possession of stolen property. Johns is also being held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and a parole hold, Stuart said.

The third suspect remained at large as of 10 a.m., Stuart said.
