Fairfield: Man Wounded in Gunfire

23-year-old man wounded from single gunshot wound.

Fairfield Police Officers responded to several reports of gunfire in the 1100 block of Dana Drive.  Officers arrived and located a 23 year old Fairfield man suffering from a single gunshot wound to his left torso area. The victim was transported to a local trauma center.  The victim is listed as stable following surgery.

The victim had been standing in front of an apartment building when multiple shots were fired in his direction. Several bullets struck the building as well. It is undetermined at this time if the victim was the intended target of the gunfire.

The only suspect description at this time is of a Black Male wearing all black clothing last seen running away on foot.

Major Crime Unit Detectives and Crime Scene personnel canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and processed the scene for evidence late into the night.  No suspect has been identified at this time. The investigation is in its early stages and additional information will be released as it becomes available.  There is no information to believe this is a gang related crime.
