Two children and two adults were taken to hospitals with injuries
after two vehicles collided in Sonoma County Tuesday morning, a California
Highway Patrol Officer said.

Around 7:20 a.m. a 38-year-old Vallejo man driving a 1982 Honda
Civic was traveling westbound on state Highway 37 with his two sons, 7 and 10
years old, and was approaching the intersection with state Highway 121 when
the vehicle collided with a Toyota Scion driven by a 53-year-old Fairfield
woman, CHP officials said.

CHP officials said it is not clear on which road the Toyota was
traveling, nor is it clear in which direction it was coming from when it
entered the intersection.

A REACH air ambulance helicopter airlifted the two children
passengers to Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland for
treatment of major head injuries, CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister said

"When they were transported by REACH they were communicative and
talking," Hohmeister said.

The driver of the Honda was transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital for lacerations to his face and head, while the driver of the Toyota
was transported to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center with complaints
of pain to her ribs and torso, CHP officials said.

The CHP closed the intersection for about 40 minutes while the drivers and children were transported to the hospital and the vehicles were
removed from the roadway.

CHP officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
