Father Stabs Son During Argument Over Money, Police Say

Vallejo Police arrest Robert Earl Smith after he allegedly stabbed his son during an argument over money.

VALLEJO, CA -- Bay City News Service

A local man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of stabbing his son during an argument about money, a police sergeant said.

Robert Earl Smith Sr., 55, was booked into the Solano County jail for assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury.

Police went to a home at 1777 Porter St. around 9:50 a.m. Sunday in response to a stabbing, Sgt. Jeff Bassett said.

Smith's 28-year-old son, who lives with his father, suffered severe injuries to his face, neck and shoulder and was taken to the NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, Bassett said. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
