FAIRFIELD (BCN) - The arraignment of a Fairfield man accused of kidnapping, raping and killing a 13-year-old Suisun City girl was delayed in Solano County
Superior Court Wednesday afternoon.

Anthony Lemar Jones, 32, appeared in a Fairfield courtroom, where he was scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge with special circumstances, including that the murder was committed during the commission of a kidnapping and a rape.

The special circumstances make Jones eligible for the death penalty if he is convicted, and prosecutors have said they will pursue capital punishment.

Jones is accused of killing Genelle Conway-Allen, whose unclothed body was found at about 6:45 a.m. on Feb. 1 in a parking lot at Allan Witt Park in Fairfield.

Jones appeared before Judge Peter Foor today dressed in black-and-white striped jail clothing with his hands in handcuffs behind his back.

His arraignment was postponed until Feb. 21.

During today's court appearance, Deputy District Attorney Terry Ray asked Foor for a protective order for the defendant's estranged wife, saying the woman had been physically abused by Jones two weeks prior to Genelle's murder.

Foor ordered the defendant to refrain from contacting his estranged wife in any way.

Jones was arrested for the killing on Friday morning in the 1100 block of East Tabor Avenue in Fairfield. Police have said they believe he acted alone.

He is being held without bail in Solano County Jail.

Genelle was in foster care at the time of her death. A vigil was held for her on Friday evening at the park where her body was found.
