A man struck by a pickup truck in Fairfield was hospitalized Sunday in critical condition, police said.
The crash was reported shortly before 6 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Texas Street, according to police.
Officers found the struck man lying in the road, police said.
Witnesses reported that the man walked into the street outside the crosswalk and was struck by a Ford Ranger pickup headed north on North Texas Street, police said.
His injuries were considered life-threatening, police said.
The driver of the pickup was not speeding and was not under the
influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident, police said.
The motorist stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.
