Vacaville man dies when trying to pass truck in rural Solano County.

By Bay City News Service
A motorcyclist was killed in an accident involving a truck
carrying hay in unincorporated Solano County near Vacaville on Tuesday
afternoon.
Johnnie Kevin Hall, 51, of Vacaville, was riding a 2006 Harley
Davidson east on Hay Road, east of Lewis Road, behind a 2000 Ford flatbed truck hauling hay when the accident happened around 4:30 p.m., a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The truck driver, 21-year-old David Rice of Vacaville, slowed down to turn left into a driveway at 5887 Hay Road, CHP Officer Rick Weaver said.
Hall tried to pass the truck as it started turning, causing Rice
to veer to the right, Weaver said.
Hall laid the motorcycle down to try to avoid a collision, and the
bike skidded across Hay Road and came to rest in a ditch along the southern edge of the roadway, Weaver said. Hall collided with the left side of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
After the collision, Hall's friends and family gathered at the
site of the accident, Weaver said.
A witness said Rice had his turn signal on and it was obvious that he was making a left turn, Weaver said.
Hall's autopsy is scheduled for today.
