Police Arrest Two Suspects In February Murder, Seek A Third

Fairfield police on Friday identified two suspects in the gang-related murder of a Fairfield man last month.

They are Mario Vasquez, 20, and Miguel Bastida, 18, both of Fairfield. Vasquez is believed to have shot 20-year-old Jesus Adrian Amaya on Hayes Street on Feb. 1, Officer Cleo Mayoral said.

Bastida was in custody in the Solano County jail for a probation violation when he was arrested there today and booked for homicide, armed robbery and criminal street gang activity, Mayoral said.

Vasquez is still at large. A no-bail, full extradition warrant has been issued and Vasquez is considered armed and dangerous, Mayoral said.

Detectives have arrested Vasquez's brother Adam Vasquez, 21, of Suisun City for harboring and aiding a wanted felon, Mayoral said.

Adam Vasquez concealed evidence after the murder and helped his brother avoid arrest, Mayoral said.

Amaya was chased on Hayes Street and gunned down. He was found unconscious in the front yard of a home in the 1000 block of Hayes Street.

He died of a single gunshot wound to the head and neck and was pronounced dead at a hospital at 12:32 a.m. Feb. 2.
