Police ID Burlglary Suspect Shot In Hand

Glenda Josselson, of Fairfield, aimed her vehicle toward the officer and accelerated.

Fairfield police have identified a burglary suspect who was shot in the hand Wednesday as she fled two police officers who attempted to arrest her.

Glenda Josselson, a Fairfield resident, was wanted for the burglary of her ex-husband's residence on Wednesday, police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said.

Fairfield police officers Tom Shackford and Adam Ponce attempted to arrest Josselson around 8:20 p.m. as she drove into the parking lot of The Pointe Apartments at 2550 Hilborn Road where she lived, Hurlbut said.

Josselson refused the officers' commands to exit her vehicle and surrender and recklessly backed up her vehicle to flee from the officers, Hurlbut said.

Her car struck three parked vehicles, and an officer who was on the side of her vehicle ordered her to stop at gunpoint, Hurlbut said.

Instead, Josselson aimed her vehicle toward the officer and accelerated, Hurlbut said.

Fearing for his safety and the safety of others, the officer fired at the vehicle as he tried to move out of the way, Hurlbut said. Josselson was struck in the hand by a bullet and her car collided with another parked vehicle before it stopped, Hurlbut said.

She was arrested and taken to the NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield, Hurlbut said. She was treated for her injury and later booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, battery on a police officer and burglary and vandalism of her ex-husband's residence, Hurlbut said.

One of the officers injured his hand during the incident but did not need medical attention, Hurlbut said. The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation of the incident, Hurlbut said.
