Prime Suspect in Juvenile Robberies is Arrested

The prime suspect in three armed robberies of juveniles in American Canyon last month was arrested Thursday in Fairfield, American Canyon Police Chief Tracey Stuart said.

Police identified Jericho Dyshone Davis, 18, of Fairfield on Dec. 20 as the prime suspect, Stuart said. Detectives tried to contact him today at an apartment complex on Travion Court in Fairfield, but Davis got away.

American Canyon detectives then went to a residence in the 1300 block of Phoenix Drive in Fairfield around 1 p.m. When no one answered the door, detectives forced entry and found Davis hiding upstairs, Stuart said.

Davis was booked in the Napa County Department of Corrections for cruelty to a child and two counts of robbery, Stuart said. His bail is $500,000 but more charges against him are anticipated.

The three robberies between Dec. 17 and 19 involved juvenile victims who said the suspects were two black males and a Hispanic male between 17 and 19 years old, Stuart said. The suspects used a similar vehicle and mode of operation, and took similar items during the robberies, Stuart said.

The three suspects in a dark blue SUV drove next to a 17-year-old male as he walked in the 800 block of Spring Mountain Lane around 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 17, Stuart said. They demanded the victim's personal property and took his phone, backpack and jacket, and fled in the SUV, Stuart said.

Less than an hour later, a 12-year-old girl was walking on Renwood Lane when a SUV pulled up next to her around 3:20 p.m., Stuart said.

A black male, believed to be Davis, got out of the SUV and forced the girl to the ground by placing his hands on her shoulders. The suspect pointed a gun at the girl and demanded her personal property or said he would shoot her, Stuart said. The girl surrendered her pink and black JanSport backpack, red "Dre" beats headphones and a Google Nexus Android phone, Stuart said.

The Hispanic male suspect between 17 and 19 years old then got out of the SUV and searched the girl's pockets for money or property, Stuart said. A black male suspect between 17 and 19 years old then drove away in the SUV with the other two suspects.

A 15-year-old boy was walking on Toscana Drive at Sequoia Grove Way around 11:25 a.m. on Dec. 19 when a dark SUV pulled next to him, Stuart said. The two black male suspects got out of the vehicle and demanded the boy's JanSport backpack, Stuart said. The boy surrendered it because he was afraid the suspects would hurt him.

American Canyon officers then learned of a vehicle pursuit in Vallejo that occurred shortly after the Dec. 19 robbery. The pursuit ended when the 2013 Subaru crashed and three suspects got away, Stuart said. The Subaru was reported stolen in Fairfield on Dec. 1.

Detectives found several items of stolen personal property and physical evidence in the stolen Subaru, Stuart said. Statements by witnesses led to the identification of Davis as one of the suspects, and specifically the suspect who pointed a firearm at the 12-year-old girl and pushed her to the ground, Stuart said.
