Robbery Suspect Arrested After Chase

A robbery suspect assaulted a female store employee, then led police on a chase.

Information from Fairfield Police:

On 05/09/12 at 1614hrs Fairfield Police Dispatch received a report of a strong arm robbery from a business in the 1300 block of Gateway Blvd.  A black male adult attempted to leave the business with merchandise in his pocket that had not been paid for.  When the female employee confronted the suspect, he assaulted her in an attempt to get away.  The suspect ran from the business and fled the area in a vehicle.  Officer Cade Beckwith spotted the car as it pulled onto Gateway Blvd.  The vehicle sped away as Officer Beckwith attempted to make an enforcement stop. 

Officers pursued the vehicle into the residential neighborhood near Second St and Travis Blvd.  The suspect stopped the vehicle and ran, jumping fences into the residential backyards.  Officers quickly set up a perimeter and arrested the suspect.  The stolen property was also recovered.

Arrested was Chad Hinton, a 32 year-old Fairfield resident
