Robbery Suspect May Be Suspect In Sexual Assault

Fairfield police apprehend armed robbery suspect who may be a suspect in a rape.

Information from Fairfield Police Department:

In April of 2012, patrol officers were dispatched to a reported armed robbery. The robbery occurred on the Linear Trail between N. Texas Street and Dover Ave. Upon speaking with the victim, he reported being robbed by two subjects, one displaying a handgun. The loss was an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was able to provide a detailed description of the two suspects and the handgun.

Three days later Major Crime detectives conducted follow up and found a possible suspect based on the description, location and possible moniker. From this the victim was able to positively identify Samuel Dominguez, 29 years old of Fairfield as the suspect with the handgun who robbed him. Detectives issued probable cause to arrest Dominguez that day.  Since then Dominguez has eluded capture at least twice when he was seen by officers and fled.

On 6/22/12, Special Operation Team officers learned Dominguez was possibly hiding in a residence in the 700 block of Wren Ct in Fairfield. Officers set up surveillance and a perimeter. From this the officers were able to determine Dominguez was in fact in the residence. Officers attempted to contact the occupants inside at which time Dominguez fled out the back of the residence. Dominguez was apprehended by waiting officers on the perimeter. Dominguez was booked into the Solano County Jail for armed robbery and an unrelated warrant.

The following day while the officers were completing their reports reference this investigation, they determined a subject matching Dominguez’s description was wanted for a sexual assault in November of 2011. The suspect in this case had not been identified. Special Operation Team officers contacted the victim in this case and were able to positively identify Dominguez as the suspect. Dominguez was then additionally arrested and booked into custody for assault with the intent to commit rape.
