Roseville Robbery Suspect Found in Solano County Jail

Dominique Albert Holmes of Vacaville was arrested on charges related to a July 29 robbery in Roseville.

Roseville investigators say they've found a man responsible for stealing an iPhone at gunpoint from a Craigslist seller–more than four months after it happened.

Vacaville resident Dominique Albert Holmes, 23, was arrested last week in Solano County Jail, where he was already in custody on unrelated charges.

The full press release from the Roseville Police Department follows:

Last week Roseville Police detectives arrested a man suspected of robbing another man outside a Roseville gas station in late July.

At 10:45 p.m. July 29, officers responded to a disturbance involving a gun outside a gas station at the corner of Sunrise Avenue and Cirby Way. They contacted a Folsom resident, who told officers that he'd advertised his iPhone for sale on Craigslist. A man answered the ad, and they arranged to meet in Roseville to complete the sale. When the seller and purported buyer met, the "buyer" grabbed the cell phone and ran. The seller tackled him, and the two men fought over the phone until the "buyer's" companion displayed a handgun. The two suspects then drove away with the stolen phone.

Officers interviewed the victim and witnesses, and collected various pieces of evidence from the crime scene. At first detectives didn't have much to go on, as no one at the scene knew the suspects, and no one had seen the license number of their car. Detectives used the description of the suspects, forensic evidence and many interviews to identify a suspect in the case.

With the information they'd developed and the help of the Solano County Probation Department, detectives submitted the case to the Placer County District Attorney's Office, and an arrest warrant was issued. On Wednesday, December 5, detectives went to the Solano County Jail in Fairfield and served the warrant on Dominique Albert Holmes, 23, of Vacaville. (Holmes was in custody in Solano County on unrelated charges.) The arrest warrant charges Holmes with robbery, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and additional charges related to his prior felony convictions. He's since been transferred to the Placer County Jail, where he's being held on $50,000 bail. The investigation is continuing to identify the second suspect.
