Sheriff Needs Help Identifying Body Found In Vallejo

A sketch of the John Doe was released today to help in identifying him.

The Solano County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to help identify a man whose remains were found in an abandoned Vallejo home in 2010.

The remains of the black man were found by a cleaning crew at the house in the 1800 block of Carolina Street on Aug. 10, 2010. The deceased man appeared to be living in the abandoned home for about a year before he died,
sheriff's Lt. Gary Faulkner said.

John Doe was between 30 and 60 years old, about 6 feet tall with a slender build. He had short black hair and no teeth, Faulkner said.

The deceased man was wearing two black hooded sweatshirts, two pairs of pants - one black and one brown - a Raiders baseball cap and red and white Timberland brand size 9.5 shoes, Faulkner said.

During an autopsy the sheriff's office discovered a silver metallic chain necklace about 24 inches long, Faulkner said.

With assistance from the University of California, Davis and the California Department of Justice, the sheriff's office was able to render a facial reconstruction of John Doe. The image was released today.

Anyone with information about John Doe's identity is urged to contact the Solano County coroner's office at (707) 421-7500.

Potential family members might be asked to provide a DNA sample for comparison before an official identification can be made, Faulkner said.
