Suisun Driver Involved In Fatal Petaluma Collision

Albert Schult of Suisun City struck a female passenger in a Volkswagen Jetta while backing up a trailer.

A female passenger who was injured last week in a collision between a Volkswagen Jetta and a tractor-trailer died at Santa Rosa Memorial
Hospital on Saturday, a Petaluma police lieutenant said.

Delois Gould, 84, was riding in the Jetta driven by her 87-year-old husband Jay Gould on Wednesday, Lt. Tim Lyons said.

The Jetta was traveling north on Industrial Drive approaching Petaluma Boulevard North around 11:30 a.m. when it was struck by a 45-foot trailer, driven by 41-year-old Albert Schult of Suisun City, as it was slowly backing onto the road from a driveway, Lyons said.

The Jetta was not speeding and the driver did not appear to see the truck, Lyons said. There were no skid marks on the roadway, Lyons said.

The right side of the Jetta where Delois was sitting collided with the right rear corner of the truck, Lyons said. Sgt. Ken Savano said the truck penetrated the windshield and the metal pillar between the windshield and passenger window.
