By Bay City News Service

A motorcyclist suffered major injuries when he crashed into an embankment on state Highway 121 northeast of Napa on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 64-year-old Suisun resident was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Highway 121 just north of Wooden Valley Road when the crash happened shortly after 1 p.m., according to the CHP.

The rider was navigating downhill turns when his motorcycle tipped to the right and slid off the roadway and into a rock embankment, CHP officials said.

He was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital.

The crash shut down the highway in both directions for about half an hour.

I pray he'll be alright. Just the other day I thought it would be fun having a motorcycle and cheaper than a car but! when I read this and at my age...it's probably best I don't.

Anna, I started riding a motorcycle 4 years ago. I took the m/c safety class first to make sure it is something I would enjoy. When I ride, I am very careful. I watch others. I don't go 80 and split traffic. I enjoy the ride. It is something that is nice. Just have to watch out for others and know your own limitations. Try riding, you may find yourself hooked. Accidents happen. Elaine
