Suisun Police Alert Residents To Recent Burglaries

Vehicle burglaries and catalytic converters on the rise

The Suisun City Police Department is warning residents to be cautious this Holiday Season due to an increase of vehicle burglaries and catalytic converters.

In a recent press release the SCPD lets residents know they can “minimize their chances of being a victim by taking a few simple steps.” These simple steps can help protect against vehicle theft:

  • Lock your vehicle
  • Close all windows
  • Remove all valuables
  • Purchase a security alarm

Additionally, police say it is a good idea to write down the serial numbers of any electronics you purchase.

Anyone witnessing or that has been a victim of a crime should report the activity immediately and accurately. Even a delay of five minutes could “significantly reduce the chance of catching a criminal.” When reporting a crime, be prepared to give detailed information, such as:

  • Your name and address
  • An explanation of what happened
  • When it occurred
  • Where it occurred
  • Is anyone hurt?
  • A brief description of the suspect
  • Vehicle license
  • Suspect’s direction of travel

SCPD want people to remember burglaries are crimes of opportunity;
take precautions to decrease chances and be a good neighbor by watching out for each other.
