Suspect Arrested for Child Abuse at Home Day Care Facility

A Rio Vista resident is accused of sex crimes against two children of a local in-home daycare facility.

A Rio Vista man is accused of molesting two children at the in-home daycare facility operated by his wife.

Police arrested Don Elliott, 49, on suspicion of lewd act upon a child, attempted lewd act upon a child and felony child abuse Wednesday and took him to the Solano County Jail, where he is being held on a $230,000 bail.

On Aug. 8, Rio Vista Police contacted the Sheriff's Department to ask for assistance into an investigation of possible criminal misconduct at a state-licensed, in-home daycare facility Lots of Tots based in Rio Vista.

The investigation - which involved Rio Vista Police, the Solano County Sheriff's Department and investigatores from the Community Care LIcensing Division of California Health and Human Services Agency - resulted in information that merited the arrest of Elliott, according to police.

Police obtained a warrant for Elliott's arrest at the childcare faciity and took him into custody Wednesday.

Lots of Tots is located on the 200 block of Tahoe Drive in Rio Vista and is operated by Elliott's wife. It is currently licensed through CCLD of the California Health and Human Services Agency. It has been licensed through the CCLD for the about 12 years, according to police.

A representative of CCLD said they are in the process of revoking the license of Lots of Tots to operate because of this arrest and other administrative violations. 

Police say this will be an on-going criminal investigation and no further information will be released.
