Suspect In Cheynah Watson Killing Arrested

Fortuna police have arrested the man suspected of killing a 19-year-old woman in Fairfield nearly two weeks ago.

Warren Herman Sloan III, 40, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday as he walked toward the Six Rivers Motel in the 500 block of South Fortuna Boulevard, Fortuna police said in a news release. Fortuna is located in Humboldt County.

Sloan was wanted for the stabbing murder of 19-year-old Fairfield resident Cheynah Watson. Her body was found at the rear of a house in the 800 block of Fourth Street in Fairfield around 8:40 a.m. on March 31.

Fairfield police had notified Fortuna police that Sloan might be in the area. He was taken into custody without incident.

Fairfield police said Sloan has a history of violence and is considered dangerous. Fortuna police were working with the U.S. Marshals Service to find him.
