Three-Car Accident Sends 9 to Hospital
Police say that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
An accident that took place Sunday night sent nine people to the hospital with injuries.
On Sunday, at 6:40 p.m., Fairfield emergency crews went to Waterman Boulevard near Interstate 80 in reponse to a report of a multi-vehicle accident. Police arrived at the location and found that three vehicles were involved in the wreck, with a total of nine injured, according to police.
Nine people were reportedly injured and taken to area hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries was described as non-life threatening.

According to Fairfield Police:
The initial investigation revealed a man driving his Ford Ranger pickup eastbound on Waterman Boulevard crossed into the westbound lanes. The pickup sideswiped a westbound Toyota Sienna occupied by a family of four. After sideswiping the Toyota, the pickup collided head-on into a westbound Kia Sedona occupied by seven people.

Police closed off the east and west off-ramps of Interstate 80 for about 90 minutes as crews worked the scene.
Police said:
"The driver of the Ford Pickup, a 72 year old Suisun resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was treated at a nearby hospital and booked into the Solano County jail on felony DUI charges."
